Vigilis Voleguard

The Vigilis Voleguard protects the base of young tree and shrub stems from vole, mouse, and small rodent gnawing — the primary cause of ring-barking damage that kills plants from the base up. It fits around the stem at ground level, covering the zone where small rodents attack, and can be used inside a tube shelter or alongside a mesh guard.

Yes — the Vigilis Voleguard is designed to sit inside a tube shelter or at the base of a mesh guard. It is compact enough to fit within standard Vigilis Tree Shelter sizes and does not interfere with the shelter's growth-promoting function. Installing a voleguard at planting is easier than retrofitting one later.

The recyclable Vigilis Voleguard should be removed once the stem has grown beyond the point where voles can damage it — typically after 3–5 years, when the bark has hardened sufficiently. Removed guards can be returned via the Vigilis Protect, Collect, Recycle scheme. For a no-removal alternative, use the Vigilis Bio Voleguard.

Yes — the Vigilis Voleguard can be used alongside any Vigilis tree shelter or guard, including the Bio Tree Shelter and Bio Mesh Guard ranges. On sites where you are using biodegradable shelters to avoid any collection, use the Vigilis Bio Voleguard instead to maintain a fully plastic-free planting system.

Yes. Vigilis recyclable products are produced with up to 30% recycled plastic, predominantly from our own in-house production scrap. Keeping this stream closed-loop within our factory reduces virgin plastic use while maintaining the strength and UV stability needed for full establishment-period performance. At end-of-life, the product is fully recyclable through standard plastics recycling streams.
