The Vigilis Mesh Guard is made from UV-stabilised recyclable polypropylene mesh — rigid enough to resist deer and livestock pressure, lightweight enough for efficient handling on large planting schemes. At the end of the tree's establishment period, removed guards can be returned through the Vigilis Protect, Collect, Recycle scheme rather than sent to landfill.

Yes — the rigid mesh construction keeps deer at a distance from the stem, preventing the antler rubbing and bark-stripping damage that can kill or severely set back young trees. This is one advantage mesh guards have over solid tube shelters, which can be pushed against the stem during rubbing. For sites with high roe or fallow deer density, mesh guards are often the preferred protection method.

Position the mesh guard around the planted whip and drive a stake through or alongside the guard to anchor it firmly. Secure the guard to the stake using a Vigilis T-Band Anchor Tie or cable tie. Check and re-secure annually. On sites with livestock, inspect after any period of heavy animal activity to confirm guards remain upright and undamaged.

Yes. Vigilis recyclable products are produced with up to 30% recycled plastic, predominantly from our own in-house production scrap. Keeping this stream closed-loop within our factory reduces virgin plastic use while maintaining the strength and UV stability needed for full establishment-period performance. At end-of-life, the product is fully recyclable through standard plastics recycling streams.
